Thanks for visiting Adventures in Music
These classes have been specially designed using both my background in music and music therapy. Activities in these classes not only target the learning of musical concepts and musicianship, but also incorporates reaching goals in all the other domains of child development, such as Language/speech, Social, Emotional, Physical (fine and gross motor), cognitive, spiritual/creative.
All of my music and movement classes are based upon the pedagogical methodologies of Zoltan Kodaly, Carl Orff, and Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, three leading methodologies in children’s music and movement classes.
We’ll sing songs, chant rhymes, play instruments together, and dance, while exploring a variety of musical concepts (rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, improv, etc.) * Parent/Caregiver participation required.
I will be offering both online/outdoor in-person classes and indoor/outdoor in-person classes.
Due to Covid-19, classes will look a bit different than they were pre-Covid.
* Class sizes are limited to 8 families.
*Indoor classes are held in a well-ventilated room or outside if the weather permits.
* Mats will be spaced out at least 6 feet/2m apart. We will try our best to maintain a minimum 6 feet/2m distance from each other. This will be challenging, as many children are very sociable and will want to approach one another. Please gently redirect your child, either by showing them how they can socialize at a distance or dancing them back to your mat.
*All adults and children 6 years and older will be required to wear a mask during class.
*For all indoor in-person classes, I wear a face shield/face mask, as there is belief that loud talking and singing (which I do both in class) may spread viruses more easily than normal talking. As all adults participating in class are required to wear face masks to protect each other and myself, my logical mind says that I should at least wear a face shield/mask to protect you.
If you feel that this takes away from your child’s musical experience and your child’s ability to connect with me as a teacher, please let me know. I want everyone to have a fun, engaging, safe experience, so any feedback is welcome 🙂
